Software Engineer (L6) - Compute Runtime

Overview

Lead the Compute Runtime team’s engineering direction and deliver scalable, reliable infrastructure for running containers across Netflix’s cloud compute platform.

What you'll do

• Deliver compute platform capabilities and drive adoption across Netflix.
• Guide engineering work on Kubernetes data plane software, container runtime, container delivery, and compute-node operating systems.
• Build partnerships with engineering teams to align platform solutions with their needs.
• Improve incident response, on-call, and other operational practices.
• Evaluate and guide adoption of new architectures, features, and off-the-shelf services.
• Define and manage cross-functional projects involving ambiguous technical questions.

What you'll need

• Track record architecting and implementing large-scale distributed systems for 100M+ users.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and abstracting its complexities.
• Experience with Golang, Java, and/or Python.
• Demonstrated technical leadership across diverse stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Details

• Remote role in the United States.
• Full-time salaried compensation structure.
• Annual salary range: $499,000–$900,000, varying by location.
