Software Engineer, Storage

Overview

Software Engineer, Storage to develop and enhance Vultr’s cloud-based storage products. You’ll work on control plane and orchestration code for Object, Block, and File storage.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with engineering teams to research and develop new features and respond to technical debt.
• Design, develop, and maintain storage-related control plane contributions in PHP.
• Integrate orchestration code in Python to manage and automate cloud storage operations.
• Contribute to the Ceph open-source project to ensure reliability, performance, and features.
• Design and contribute to cloud provider solutions for HPC, AI training, and inference workloads focused on storage.
• Optimize and refactor existing codebases for performance and maintainability.

What you'll need

• 3+ years of experience in software engineering focused on storage or distributed systems.
• Proficiency in PHP and Python for control plane and orchestration code.
• Understanding of cloud storage architectures and technologies.
• Solid knowledge of Linux/Unix operating systems.
• Experience with distributed systems and networking fundamentals.
• Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Communication skills to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
