Sr. Engineer - MV Switchgear

Overview

Senior Engineer for MV Switchgear and mechanism design in Eaton’s Medium Voltage Power Distribution business, based in Pune, India.

What you'll do

• Design and develop MV switchgear (AIS, GIS, RMU) to meet customer requirements, cost targets, and market technology.
• Own mechanism design and support prototype/product development.
• Coordinate with global stakeholders and drive project execution across design, testing, and implementation.
• Ensure product compliance to global design standards such as IEC 62271.
• Perform analytic/numerical modeling, calculations, and simulation for new product development.
• Prepare technical documentation, tests, bill of material, and production release documents.

What you'll need

• B.E./B.Tech (Mechanical) or M.Tech/MS (Mechanical).
• 9+ years experience, including 5+ years in design, development, manufacturing process, and testing of MV switchgear.
• Experience designing MV switchgear for parameters including Dielectrics, Partial Discharge, Thermal, Internal Arc, STC, and endurance.
• Knowledge of switching mechanisms, CO/OCO functionality, and interlock designs.
• Hands-on product development experience using DfX methodology.
• Working knowledge of CAD tools such as Creo (Non-Parametric) and Inventor.
• Knowledge of PLM tools such as Enovia.
