Engineer- Start-Up

Overview

Support the commissioning and start-up of Air Products air separation unit (ASU) facilities, from pre-commissioning through handover to operations. The role coordinates multidisciplinary teams and ensures safe, compliant, and operationally ready plant systems.

What you'll do

• Lead assigned commissioning and start-up activities using approved procedures.
• Verify mechanical completion and system readiness before energization and operation.
• Execute functional testing, loop checks, performance tests, and operational validation.
• Monitor plant systems and recommend corrective actions during start-up.
• Coordinate system turnover, punch-list management, and operational acceptance.
• Participate in risk assessments, HAZOP actions, and pre-startup safety reviews.
• Document start-up results, lessons learned, and turnover records.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 12 years of experience in industrial projects, commissioning, operations, maintenance, or plant start-up.
• Working knowledge of industrial processes, equipment, control systems, and plant operations.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities.
• Effective communication and coordination skills in multidisciplinary environments.
• Ability to work in construction, commissioning, and operating plant environments.

Nice to have

• Experience with ASUs, process plants, or related industrial facilities.
• Experience with mid- to large-capital project execution, commissioning, and start-up.
• Familiarity with DCS, PLC, and process control systems.
• International or multi-site project experience.

Details

• Location: Pune, India.
• Regular full-time schedule; extended hours, shifts, weekends, or holidays may be required.
• Frequent domestic and international travel, including extended site assignments, may be required.
