Overview

Senior Software Engineer, Embedded Software, contributing to sustaining engineering activities for Front Line Care products in Bangalore. The role leads or contributes to requirements, analysis, detailed design, implementation, testing, verification and product development activities for assigned products, projects or solutions.

What you'll do

  • Identify technical problems and provide innovative, creative solutions while sharing technical knowledge with the team.
  • Incorporate business, market, industry and competitive knowledge into technical solutions that can be adapted to changes in technology and clinical use.
  • Generate alternatives and take reasonable risks while solving technical problems.
  • Work and collaborate closely with the Project Manager to define and solve engineering changes and problems to meet performance and functional criteria within the required project schedule.
  • Participate in or lead design and change reviews with the Sustaining Team and Engineering Change Board, justify design details and collaborate with team members.
  • Generate and maintain design requirement specifications, engineering prints, material specifications and bills of materials.
  • Use existing engineering tools and best practices to report and track product and process metrics.
  • Challenge project teams and established work processes and proactively find creative methods to reach desired performance levels.
  • Inform others proactively about developments or issues that affect their work and ability to meet commitments.
  • Process and review system-level requirements and translate them into software requirements specifications.
  • Design and implement application solutions for embedded control systems.
  • Develop test plans and test the implemented code.
  • Collaborate with internal and/or external parties in the development, improvement and maintenance of products.
  • Identify and report quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective or preventive action as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with R&D and cross-functional teams.

What you'll need

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 6 to 10 years of work experience in embedded software development.
  • Experience in at least one complete embedded software development life cycle from concept to release.
  • Significant technical contribution to projects.
  • Knowledge or experience with digital signals, analog signals, sensor interfaces, motor driver interfaces, PID control and network interfaces.
  • Knowledge of QT, C and C++ programming languages and software design patterns.
  • Knowledge and product development experience in an embedded operating system environment, such as FreeRTOS, embOS, VxWorks, µC/OS or Embedded Linux (Yocto or Flex OS).
  • Familiarity with embedded application or firmware development.
  • Experience with communication protocols and interfaces including CAN, UART, SPI, I2C, USB and TCP/IP driver development.
  • Ability to read schematics and interact with hardware engineers to understand hardware and software trade-offs.
  • Experience delivering documentation on embedded software module design, test plans, test cases, FMEA and task effort estimation for applications for embedded systems.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, documentation and presentation skills.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Good teamwork skills with a can-do attitude.
  • Thirst to constantly learn about new technologies and ways to improve.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in accomplishing objectives.
  • Ability to deliver on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-motivated with good interpersonal skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Medical Devices and FDA Regulations.
  • Knowledge of machine learning and AI algorithms.
  • Knowledge of IoT and Cybersecurity technology.

  • The role is based at the BRD facility in Bangalore, India.
  • The role reports to the Software Manager for Front Line Care.
  • The position does not have any direct reports.
