Overview
Lead a portfolio of complex engineering operational programs and serve as the local technical program management lead for the India engineering organization. Partner with engineering and senior technical leaders across geographies to translate organizational strategy into executable roadmaps, establish operating mechanisms, and deliver products and computer-based systems from design through release for customers.
What you'll do
- Plan and manage a portfolio of engineering operational programs.
- Provide technical guidance and support to program teams.
- Establish and maintain program management processes and standards.
- Monitor program progress and performance against objectives.
- Communicate program status and issues to senior leadership.
- Manage program budgets and resources.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
- Define and evolve a multi-year strategy for the engineering technical program management function in partnership with organizational and engineering leadership.
- Build trusted relationships with senior leaders and act as a thought partner on execution strategy, organizational change, capacity planning, and complex cross-team decisions.
- Lead through influence in a highly matrixed, globally distributed engineering environment with significant ambiguity and competing priorities.
- Create mechanisms that make portfolio health, technical dependencies, delivery confidence, and organizational capacity visible to leaders and teams.
- Identify opportunities to simplify governance, remove delivery friction, and scale effective practices across programs, teams, and locations.
- Identify repetitive coordination, reporting, documentation, research, planning, and analysis activities that can be improved through AI-assisted or agentic workflows.
- Experiment hands-on with AI agents and tools such as Claude Code, Claude Cowork, or comparable technologies, and help teams adopt responsible, practical workflows that improve program effectiveness.
- Champion responsible experimentation with AI-assisted workflows and share effective practices, standards, and learnings across the organization.
What you'll need
- 8+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with program management methodologies and tools within an engineering environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional engineering programs and influencing senior stakeholders without direct authority.
- Experience establishing or scaling program management operating models, governance, processes, or communities of practice.
- Experience working across global teams and cultures, with the ability to build trust and maintain strong execution across time zones.
- Strong mentorship, coaching, communication, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking, analytical thinking, project risk management, and technical project management capability.
- Comfort engaging credibly in technical discussions without requiring a hands-on software engineering background.
Nice to have
- 15+ years of overall professional experience preferred, including 8+ years of program management experience.
- Hands-on use of AI assistants, coding agents, workflow-automation tools, or lightweight internal tools in professional or personal projects preferred.
