Sr Software Engineer backend

Overview

Senior Software Engineer (Backend) to design, develop, and support scalable, secure, and resilient backend services and APIs for Lowe’s enterprise and customer-facing platforms.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, test, and deliver backend services, APIs, and integrations.
• Build scalable, secure, resilient microservices and distributed systems.
• Translate business and product requirements into technical solutions.
• Design APIs, backend integrations, data models, and event-driven communication patterns.
• Troubleshoot complex development and integration issues with root cause analysis.
• Mentor engineers via code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.
• Own features end-to-end from design through implementation, testing, documentation, and handoff.

What you'll need

• Minimum 5 years of software development or related field experience.
• Minimum 4 years of backend development experience including microservices, APIs, middleware, databases, integrations, or DevOps.
• Minimum 4 years delivering solutions using iterative Agile software development lifecycle practices.
• Deep expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and modern backend frameworks.
• Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and event-driven architectures.
• Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases including data modeling and query optimization.
• Experience with messaging/streaming platforms such as Kafka or equivalent technologies.
