Overview
Senior Systems Java Developer to design, develop, and maintain secure, scalable Java applications and services for enterprise and laboratory-facing environments.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, enhance, and maintain production-grade Java and Spring Boot applications, REST APIs, and microservices.
- Translate functional and non-functional requirements into technical designs, implementation plans, and maintainable code.
- Build service integrations using versioned APIs and resilient communication patterns.
- Develop data-access components and optimize SQL for relational databases (MySQL and Oracle).
- Produce automated unit, integration, and API tests; investigate defects; and improve reliability and test coverage.
- Use Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Jira across planning, build, test, release, and traceability.
What you'll need
- Minimum 7-9 years of professional software or systems-development experience with substantial hands-on Java development.
- Strong, hands-on proficiency in Java and Spring/Spring Boot for enterprise service development.
- Experience designing, developing, documenting, and consuming RESTful Web APIs.
- Strong microservices architecture and distributed-systems fundamentals, including API integration patterns.
- Experience with Spring ecosystem capabilities such as Spring Data JPA, Spring Security, Spring Cloud, or comparable tools.
- Strong SQL and relational database experience including PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle.
- Hands-on Node.js development experience.
Nice to have
- Experience with Angular and TypeScript front-end development for Java-backed microservices.
- Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger, API gateways, service discovery, and observability/monitoring tools.
- Experience with test-driven development, JUnit, Mockito, integration testing, and JaCoCo.
- Experience integrating AI services/capabilities into enterprise applications.
- Experience in regulated scientific/healthcare/life-sciences or other quality-sensitive software environments.
