Staff Backend Engineer, Guardian

Overview

Staff Backend Engineer on LaunchDarkly’s Guardian team, focused on releases and observability.

What you'll do

• Prototype new product concepts at the intersection of feature flags and observability.
• Collaborate with product, design, data science, and engineering to architect observability products.
• Define technical direction for net-new product areas and expand Guardian’s value.
• Suggest and implement improvements to tools, processes, and methodologies for release safety and reliability.
• Identify product and user experience improvement opportunities using data insights and feedback.
• Lead implementation of enhancements balancing user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility.

What you'll need

• 12+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience shipping production-quality full-stack features.
• Experience with observability systems, statistical analysis pipelines, and event-based metrics infrastructure.
• Strong architectural understanding of data platforms, backend services, and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Experience leading 0-to-1 product development from exploration through proof of concept to validated direction.
• Ability to work autonomously with minimal direction.
