Staff Developer

Overview

Lead the architecture, development, and operation of large-scale data platform systems supporting the storage and search of cybersecurity telemetry. Provide technical leadership across teams and drive reliable, scalable solutions using distributed systems and cloud technologies.

What you'll do

• Lead architecture, design, and delivery of complex data platform initiatives.
• Drive cross-team technical direction, engineering practices, and reusable design patterns.
• Own solutions from problem definition through deployment and operational support.
• Identify technical gaps, risks, debt, and missing requirements.
• Partner with Product and Engineering leadership on platform investments.
• Mentor engineers through reviews, pairing, knowledge sharing, and post-mortems.
• Improve reliability, observability, testing, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure.

What you'll need

• 8–13 years of experience with backend or distributed systems.
• Experience designing and operating large-scale big data systems.
• Software development experience in Python, Go, Java, or another object-oriented language.
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems, system design, and scalable data architectures.
• Strong SQL expertise, including complex queries, CTEs, window functions, and optimization.
• Experience with Elasticsearch, RESTful APIs, AWS, Kubernetes, and containerized environments.
• Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction across teams.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of query execution and optimization internals.
• Experience with Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg, Databricks, Trino, Spark, or similar platforms.
• Experience with Amazon SQS, Kafka, or similar message queue systems.
