Staff Engineer

Overview

Lead complex engineering initiatives, set technical direction, and deliver scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems. Mentor engineers and act as a technical domain custodian for resilience and scalability.

What you'll do

• Assess backlog items through technical spikes, risk identification, and scope clarification.
• Lead technical requirements, solution options, decomposition, and implementation planning.
• Lead solution development for complex projects independently.
• Write project and architecture documentation.
• Define resilience, performance, scalability, and reliability strategies.
• Improve engineering standards, processes, automation, testing, and ways of working.
• Mentor, coach, and provide people leadership to engineers when required.

What you'll need

• Engineering experience across JVM, Node.js, Vue.js, and multiple technologies.
• Experience coaching engineers and developing engineering practices.
• Experience facilitating requirements gathering and solution design.
• Strong complex problem-solving skills for escalated technical challenges.
• AWS experience with services including EC2, Kinesis, SQS, ElastiCache, Lambda, and S3.
• In-depth experience with microservices, API architecture, and solution design.
• Experience with relational and key-value/document databases and CI/CD systems.

Nice to have

• Prior experience in hospitality, technology, and Global Distribution Systems.
