Staff Engineer Mechanical

Overview

Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical engineering initiatives in Hyderabad R&D, supporting sustaining engineering, VAVE, and lifecycle management for KingFisher sample preparation systems and detection instruments.

What you'll do

• Act as a technical lead for mechanical systems and subsystems including assemblies, mechanisms, enclosures, and thermal/structural components.
• Lead mechanical design, analysis, and troubleshooting of mechanical components and systems.
• Drive root cause investigations for mechanical and system-level issues, including field failures and reliability concerns.
• Lead sustaining engineering workstreams such as design updates, component obsolescence, and supplier changes.
• Identify and implement cost reduction opportunities through VAVE within mechanical designs and assemblies.
• Collaborate with systems, electrical, and software teams to support system integration and verification activities.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience for complex products or instrumentation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (advanced degree preferred).
• Strong experience in mechanical design, CAD modeling, and tolerance analysis.
• Proven ability in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and design improvements.
• Experience working in cross-functional and global engineering teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with life sciences or analytical instrumentation (e.g., sample prep, PCR/qPCR).
• Experience with VAVE, cost optimization, and design for manufacturability (DFM/DFA).
• Familiarity with thermal analysis, fluidics integration, or precision mechanisms.
• Experience with regulated product development environments.
• Ability to influence and collaborate across teams.
