Staff Security Software Engineer

Overview

Staff Security Software Engineer to design and build scalable security platforms and capabilities that strengthen Coupang’s security posture. Hands-on role leading distributed systems and technical direction across teams.

What you'll do

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of high-impact security engineering initiatives.
• Build scalable security platforms and distributed systems for complex security challenges.
• Collaborate across Security, Engineering, Infrastructure, and GRC to deliver production-ready solutions.
• Drive architecture, technical design reviews, and engineering best practices.
• Evaluate emerging technologies, AI capabilities, and security solutions via prototypes and investigations.
• Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership across teams.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of software engineering experience building large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong technical leadership experience leading complex, cross-functional engineering initiatives.
• Proficiency in one or more languages: Java, Go, Python, or C++.
• Experience designing, building, and operating highly scalable and reliable software platforms.
• Strong understanding of system architecture, distributed systems, performance, and reliability.
• Cloud technologies experience, preferably AWS (IAM, security controls, logging, access management).

Nice to have

• Experience building security products, platforms, or services at scale.
• Experience leveraging AI technologies to improve security capabilities or engineering productivity.
• Track record of driving architecture and technical strategy across multiple teams and organizations.

• Location: Bengaluru.
• Work model: Hybrid (at least 3 days in the office per week; up to 2 days work from home, depending on role).
