Staff Software Engineer, Web Platform

Overview

Staff Software Engineer on Anthropic’s Web Platform team, building shared web platform infrastructure and APIs that power Claude.ai across surfaces.

What you'll do

• Improve developer velocity by reducing friction in build, deploy, and testing pipelines.
• Work on performance and reliability by identifying latency issues and improving observability.
• Design and build shared UI components, libraries, and abstractions for web and mobile.
• Evolve backend-for-frontend (BFF) APIs that power client applications.
• Partner with product engineering teams to understand needs and unblock them.
• Maintain and evolve documentation and tooling for engineers building on the platform.

What you'll need

• Strong practical skills in modern web technologies such as React and TypeScript.
• Experience designing or consuming APIs that serve frontend applications.
• A focus on developer experience with a track record of improving other engineers’ productivity.
• Reliability, observability, and performance instincts, applied in production systems.
• Experience working in fast-paced, collaborative, cross-functional environments.

Details

• Location-based hybrid policy: expected to be in one of the offices at least 25% of the time.
