Overview

Staff Streaming/Messaging Infra Engineer on eBay’s infrastructure engineering team building and operating core real-time messaging and streaming platforms.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and operate the control plane and data plane for Apache Flink and Apache Kafka.
• Own streaming platform infrastructure across multiple private-cloud Kubernetes clusters, Availability Zones, and Data Centers.
• Lead design and development of real-time streaming lakehouse storage architecture.
• Drive high availability, automated fault recovery, and zero-downtime operations for production streaming topologies.
• Improve monitoring, distributed tracing, automated alerting, and failure-diagnosis tooling.
• Collaborate with cross-functional architecture and platform teams globally.

What you'll need

• Hands-on distributed systems fundamentals including data structures, concurrency, OS internals, and networking.
• Expertise in Java, Rust, or C++.
• Hands-on experience developing, tuning, and operating Apache Flink at scale.
• Proven experience with Apache Kafka (or Pulsar/RocketMQ), including core broker architecture and partition strategy.
• Solid experience running high-throughput stateful workloads on Kubernetes across hybrid or private cloud environments.
• Familiarity with streaming table formats and storage engines such as Apache Paimon, Apache Iceberg, or Apache Fluss.
