Technical Lead Manager

Overview

Technical Lead Manager for Nexla’s connector layer, owning connector architecture, roadmap, and reliability. You lead a team of 4–6 engineers while staying hands-on with high-throughput distributed backend systems.

What you'll do

• Own the architecture of the connector layer and how systems are abstracted for high throughput.
• Write hard parts of the connector layer, including handling formats like JSON, Parquet, and Avro.
• Drive the connector roadmap: decide what ships, what gets deprecated, and in what order.
• Improve reliability of what your team ships, including on-call responsibilities.
• Lead a team of 4–6 engineers with hiring, growth, and raising the technical bar via design review and pairing.
• Own production outcomes, including fixing failures between teams rather than routing them.

What you'll need

• 10+ years building backend systems and still be hands-on.
• Deep JVM experience.
• Production experience with Kafka, Redis, or Memcached.
• API experience using gRPC and REST.
• Kubernetes experience at high throughput.
• Experience debugging distributed systems where failures weren’t in your own code.
• Experience leading engineers technically through design review and mentoring.
• Formal people-management experience is welcome but not required.
