Technical Senior Manager, Harness Engineering

Overview

Hands-on Technical Senior Manager role leading and building the “harness” engineering that helps AI coding agents produce reliable, production-grade output.

What you'll do

• Design, build, deploy, and support harness components such as guides, feedback loops, guardrails, and shared context.
• Build and maintain feedforward guides and feedback sensors to help agents catch issues before human review.
• Drive adoption of AI coding agents and harness practices via hands-on enablement and usage/quality metrics.
• Govern responsible AI usage within the team, aligned to standards, compliance, and quality/safety thresholds.
• Define quality gating and release criteria, including escalation rules for changes requiring human review.
• Run the steering loop by engineering controls to prevent repeated classes of agent mistakes.
• Coordinate day-to-day team activities and coach team members, and collaborate with stakeholders for goals and hiring.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science or related discipline, or relevant experience in software design, development, and testing.
• Strong software engineering background in large, complex codebases with care for architecture, testing, and maintainability and remain hands-on.
• Hands-on experience with AI coding agents (e.g., Claude Code, Codex, or similar).
• Experience building engineering tooling such as linters/static analysis, CI/CD, containerized build/test environments, and observability/instrumentation.
• Familiarity with agent instruction conventions such as AGENTS.md.
• Systems mindset focused on fixing the environment to achieve “what good looks like” via mechanical, repeatable rules.
• Strong people management experience managing a high-performing team through organizational change.
