Overview
Engineering Director, Application Engineering at BlackRock, leading application and data platform architecture, engineering strategy, and delivery for global post-trade operations.
What you'll do
- Define and drive technology strategy, target-state architecture, and engineering direction across application and data platforms.
- Provide technical leadership for distributed application, integration, and data platforms.
- Translate business priorities into technology roadmaps and lead modernization initiatives while balancing technical debt.
- Establish engineering standards for quality, resilience, security, operational excellence, and governance.
- Partner with stakeholders to evaluate trade-offs, manage dependencies, and maximize business outcomes.
- Develop senior engineering talent and foster accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Drive adoption of AI-enabled engineering capabilities and intelligent automation while maintaining risk and control standards.
What you'll need
- Minimum 12 years of demonstrated leadership experience across enterprise-scale software engineering environments.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- Deep expertise in modern application architecture, distributed systems, microservices, APIs, and event-driven architectures.
- Strong technical depth in enterprise application development and data architecture (large-scale processing, data modeling, performance optimization, best practices).
- Experience designing and operating large-scale application and data platforms with modern messaging, caching, and distributed processing.
- Demonstrated success defining technology strategy and leading complex multi-team initiatives.

- Location: Gurugram, India.
- Hybrid work model: at least 4 days in the office per week, with flexibility to work from home 1 day a week.
