Overview
Lead the design and development of mechanical systems, subsystems, and components for healthcare products. Provide technical direction across the product development lifecycle, solve complex engineering problems, mentor engineers, and influence product and technology direction.
What you'll do
- Lead mechanical design and product development activities across engineering teams.
- Drive mechanical engineering work from concept and architecture through design, verification, manufacturing introduction, and product support.
- Apply GD&T, tolerance analysis, material selection, design calculations, and manufacturing process selection.
- Lead technical reviews, assess risks, evaluate alternatives, and close engineering issues.
- Develop verification strategies and ensure designs meet performance, reliability, quality, cost, and manufacturability requirements.
- Mentor engineers and improve mechanical design methodologies and engineering practices.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, sourcing, suppliers, and engineering teams to industrialize and support designs.
What you'll need
- 10+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience.
- At least 5 years of hands-on core product design and product development experience.
- Master's degree in mechanical design, mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, tool design, or a related discipline.
- Strong experience in NPI, new product development, and/or R&D environments.
- Experience owning mechanical design activities across multiple product development stages.
- Technical leadership experience, including complex problem-solving, technical decisions, and mentoring.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design, engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerance analysis, materials, calculations, and design verification.
Nice to have
- Experience defining product architecture, design methodologies, technical roadmaps, or future technology direction.
- Knowledge of metalworking, castings, injection molding, joining processes, and surface coatings.
- Knowledge of engineering-grade plastics and polymers.
- Experience transitioning designs into production with suppliers and manufacturing teams.
- Experience collaborating with global engineering and cross-functional teams.
