Installed Base Engineer Mechanical Design

Overview

Mechanical Design Engineer for medical-device mechanical systems, covering design, analysis, documentation, testing, and manufacturing transfer.

What you'll do

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for medical devices to standards and specifications.
• Run engineering analyses (stress, thermal, kinematic) using FEA and simulation tools.
• Create 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and specifications using software such as SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA.
• Lead/participate in design reviews and provide feedback on integrity and manufacturability.
• Develop and execute test plans, analyze results, and troubleshoot design issues.
• Maintain design documentation including DHF, ECOs, and technical reports.
• Support manufacturing transfer and resolve production-related mechanical design challenges.

What you'll need

• Strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering design and analysis.
• Hands-on experience with sheet metal, machined/fabricated components, and plastic parts (injection molded and thermoformed).
• Expertise in 3D CAD modeling and 2D detailing using tools like Creo, NX, SolidWorks, or CATIA.
• Proficiency in tolerance stack-up analysis, FMEAs (DFMEA/PFMEA), and design verification/validation.
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
• Capability to create and manage mechanical BOMs.
• Experience across full product development lifecycle, including concept to manufacturing introduction/service support.
