Mechanical Design Engineer - Inverter & Charger Cabinet Systems

Overview

Mechanical Design Engineer responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems and enclosure solutions for power conversion products, including inverter and charger cabinet systems.

What you'll do

• Lead mechanical design and development of inverter cabinets, battery charger cabinets, power conversion enclosures, and switchgear systems from concept to production.
• Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and engineering documentation.
• Define enclosure layouts for electrical clearances, creepage distances, thermal management, IP, EMC, maintainability, and safety standards.
• Design sheet metal, fabricated structures, welded assemblies, busbar support structures, and internal equipment arrangements.
• Develop cooling concepts and support structural, vibration, and seismic design activities.
• Support prototype builds, factory testing, design validation, and issue resolution.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
• 6+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience in enclosures and structures for electrical equipment/power electronics/power conversion systems or related industries.
• Proven experience designing inverter cabinets, charger cabinets, switchgear enclosures, electrical control cabinets, or containerized power systems.
• Experience with sheet metal design, structural fabrication, and enclosure development.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD tools such as Creo, SolidWorks, or NX (or equivalent).
• Experience translating system requirements into manufacturable, cost-effective mechanical designs from concept to production release.

Nice to have

• Experience with utility-scale energy storage systems (BESS), power conversion systems (PCS), and renewable energy products.
• Knowledge/familiarity with IEC, UL, NEMA, IP, and electrical equipment enclosure standards.
• Experience coordinating with electrical engineering teams on controls, power electronics, and cable management design.
