Associate, Payroll

Overview

Payroll Specialist for the U.S. Payroll role with direct ownership of hands-on payroll processing, plus U.S. payroll subject matter expertise and oversight.

What you'll do

• Own end-to-end U.S. payroll processing, including data gathering, validation, review, and final sign-off.
• Lead multi-state tax calculations, W-2 testing and reconciliation, 401(k) processing, salary variance analysis, and retroactive adjustments.
• Provide guidance on federal, state, and local tax matters to ensure compliance and accuracy.
• Independently prepare, review, and post payroll journal entries, including accruals, reversals, and adjustments.
• Act as the primary point of contact for payroll escalations, employee inquiries, client questions, and external vendor coordination.
• Drive payroll process improvements and automation using Excel, Workday, and other reporting/automation solutions.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
• 4+ years of finance, accounting, and/or U.S. payroll experience.
• Hands-on experience with state and local tax calculations and compliance, including W-2 testing, year-end reconciliation, and corrections.
• Advanced MS Excel proficiency, including VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, COUNTIFS, SUMIFS, and nested IFs.
• Deep understanding of U.S. federal, state, and other jurisdictional payroll taxes.
• Advanced experience with payroll-related journal entries and financial reconciliations.
• Strong communication skills (English verbal and written) and organizational skills to meet deadlines.
