Overview
Chief Architect role for Legion’s AI-powered Workforce Management platform (hands-on technical authority and architecture decision-maker for complex systems).
What you'll do
- Lead hands-on technical architecture and high-consequence system design decisions across core platform areas.
- Dive into code, design documents, incidents, performance bottlenecks, and tradeoffs to guide technical direction.
- Define long-term architecture spanning application services, data infrastructure, ML systems, optimization, APIs, and developer platforms.
- Architect production AI capabilities for forecasting, scheduling, labor optimization, decision automation, and related use cases.
- Drive distributed systems and enterprise-scale multi-tenant SaaS architecture decisions.
- Own architectural approach to security, compliance, governance, privacy, auditability, and resilience.
What you'll need
- 15+ years of experience building and scaling large-scale software systems.
- Prior experience in roles such as Chief Architect, Distinguished Engineer, Principal Architect, or equivalent senior leadership.
- Demonstrated success designing and scaling mission-critical multi-tenant SaaS for enterprise customers.
- Deep hands-on experience with distributed systems, cloud-native architecture, data platforms, APIs, event-driven systems, and production reliability.
- Experience modernizing large production systems incrementally while maintaining uptime and backward compatibility.
- Experience building/supporting AI/ML/optimization/forecasting/decisioning or data-intensive products in production.
- Strong technical depth in system design and large-scale data processing, plus cloud platform experience (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

- Reports to the Head of Product, Engineering, and Support.
- Up to 15% travel for leadership collaboration, engineering offsites, and strategic customer engagements.
- Role is remote in the United States.
