Community Engineer

Overview

Hire Vercel as a Community Engineer to evolve and scale the developer ecosystem strategy within Marketing, owning and expanding developer-facing programs and ecosystem partnerships.

What you'll do

• Evolve Vercel’s developer-facing programs by refining sponsorship frameworks and increasing measurable impact.
• Develop the developer ecosystem strategy by identifying priority areas and building high-leverage partnerships.
• Define global conference and sponsorship strategy, including choosing flagship events and establishing ROI for investments.
• Shape developer thought leadership and narrative in collaboration with Vercel Media.
• Drive cross-functional alignment with Developer Experience, Community, Product Marketing, and Brand to scale activation.
• Strengthen relationships with open source maintainers and ecosystem leaders.

What you'll need

• 6+ years of experience in developer relations, developer marketing, OSS leadership, or ecosystem strategy.
• Experience owning or scaling an open source or ecosystem program.
• Strong relationships within modern web or open source communities.
• Experience managing sponsorship investments and evaluating ROI.
• Proven conference speaking experience at high-visibility developer events.
• Ability to connect ecosystem initiatives to measurable marketing and business impact.
• Deep technical fluency with modern web technologies (e.g., Next.js, frontend frameworks, cloud platforms).
• Ability to travel regularly for conferences and ecosystem engagements.

Details

• Reports to the Head of Marketing Programs & Vercel Media.
• In-office anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday if within commuting distance of SF, NYC, or Austin; fully remote otherwise.
• Role includes fully remote option depending on location.
• San Francisco, CA base pay range: $168,000 - $237,000.
