Consulting Engineer

Overview

Consulting Engineer (CE) for Cisco Customer Experience (CX), providing premium-level technical support for Data Center customers and acting as a customer-facing technical leader to improve outcomes and satisfaction.

What you'll do

• Serve as the liaison between customers and Cisco support organizations during high-severity issues.
• Lead complex Data Center network problem resolution across Cisco’s Data Center portfolio end-to-end.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and produce technical documentation with remediation and prevention recommendations.
• Monitor and analyze operational trends, and deliver quarterly technical reviews with findings and metrics.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Account Team, Cisco TAC, Product Business Unit, HTOM) on resolution strategies.
• Provide remote or onsite deployment support for Data Center rollouts, migrations, and fabric expansions, with occasional travel.

What you'll need

• Typically requires a BS in a technical field (CS/EE preferred) plus 10+ years of related experience, or an MS (CS/EE preferred).
• Hands-on experience with core Cisco Data Center technologies, including Nexus switches, ACI, and UCS.
• Experience with Data Center fabric architectures and overlay/underlay technologies including VxLAN, EVPN, FabricPath, OTV, LISP, and DCI.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, Multicast, STP, HSRP, VRRP, and QoS, including packet-level troubleshooting with Wireshark.
• Experience with SAN and storage networking (FC/FCoE), and virtualization technologies including VMware, Hyper-V, and KVM.
• Experience with Data Center troubleshooting tools such as Nexus Dashboard and UCS Manager/IMC.
