CPU Power Modeling & Characterization Engineer (Staff/Senior Staff)

Overview

Develop CPU power models and characterize DPM weights for high-performance, low-power CPU clusters across pre-silicon and post-silicon phases.

What you'll do

• Develop CPU power models using micro-events, PMU/EMON counters, and DPM frameworks.
• Build unconstrained and hardware-limited CPU power models.
• Incorporate limiters, DVFS, temperature, and throttling behavior.
• Model dynamic power, leakage, and rail-specific behavior.
• Drive DPM weight characterization using simulation, emulation, and silicon data.
• Correlate CPU event counts with measured silicon power and debug gaps.
• Enhance DPM coverage with new CPU events and diagnostics.

What you'll need

• At least 8 years of relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of CPU microarchitecture.
• Hands-on experience with DPM, EMON, or PMU-based power modeling.
• Experience with pre-silicon and post-silicon power correlation.
• Proficiency in Python or Perl.
• Data analysis skills.
• Bachelor's, master's, or PhD degree in a relevant engineering or computer science field.
