Overview

Data Scientist for Airbnb’s Community Support (CS) team, focusing on causal inference to improve guest and host experiences.

What you'll do

• Design and implement causal inference frameworks and statistical models to measure intervention impact.
• Build, evaluate, and iterate on causal ML models for high-stakes decisions.
• Develop frameworks to analyze tradeoffs among competing objectives like accuracy, coverage, experience, and operational cost.
• Conduct causal inference analyses to quantify long-term effects and heterogeneous treatment effects.
• Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, Engineering, Operations, Analytics) to drive collaboration.
• Communicate findings to leaders and stakeholders to support data-informed decision-making.

What you'll need

• 2+ years of industry experience in a quantitative analysis role.
• A Master’s degree in a quantitative field, or a PhD in relevant fields.
• Strong knowledge of causal inference and experimental design.
• Strong knowledge of Bayesian modeling and statistical inference.
• Hands-on experience building and deploying statistical or ML models in production environments.
• Skilled in statistical programming (Python/R) and database usage (SQL).
• Ability to communicate clearly to audiences with varying technical levels.

• Work mode: US - Remote Eligible, with occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites as agreed with the manager.
