Director - Backend Engineering - AI Infra

Overview

Lead backend engineering for AI physical infrastructure, including software-defined networking, GPU fleet automation, traffic engineering, and high-performance storage systems.

What you'll do

• Lead SDN orchestrator design for GPU networking and data-centre routing.
• Oversee GPU health, fault detection, diagnostics, and RMA automation.
• Drive backend systems for traffic routing, load balancing, and IPAM.
• Direct interfaces for parallel file systems and AI object storage.
• Set architecture standards for resilient, multi-region AI infrastructure.
• Champion Python, Ansible, and Terraform for infrastructure automation.
• Lead backend, SDN engineering, and infrastructure operations teams.

What you'll need

• 15+ years of backend engineering experience.
• At least 5 years managing complex infrastructure in a leadership role.
• Experience with Linux internals, hardware-software interfaces, and distributed systems.
• Understanding of L2/L3 networking and specialized fabrics such as InfiniBand or RoCE.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or C++.
• Deep experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, and Ansible.
• Experience with high-performance storage backends and GPU architecture.

Nice to have

• Experience building custom SDN controllers or orchestration layers.
• Experience with NVIDIA or GPUDirect technologies.
• Experience in a hyperscale environment.
