Electrical Engineer 3 (Component Engineer)

Overview

Electrical Component Engineer role in Lam Research’s Global Operations Group, focused on end-to-end component engineering to maintain supply continuity and improve cost-effectiveness.

What you'll do

• Identify alternate components and create side-by-side comparison reports using Form, Fit, and Function (FFF) analysis.
• Own component selection for new product designs and contribute during design reviews (PDR, DDR, CDR).
• Select alternates for COTS/OEM electrical, electronic, and electromechanical components such as connectors, cables, PCBA, capacitors, and fuses.
• Analyze sub-assemblies/higher-level assemblies to ensure manufacturability while selecting alternate components.
• Lead alternate identification for medium to high-complexity electrical subsystems and collaborate on implementation.
• Work with Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, and suppliers on part qualification and supplier onboarding.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (or related) with 8+ years of experience, or Master’s with 6+ years, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of global suppliers and OEM/BTP components including passive components, discrete/integrated circuits, connectors, cables, and PCBA.
• Hands-on experience performing alternate identification and preparing detailed comparison reports.
• Ability to perform FFF analysis for existing and newly identified components in large assembly systems.
• Ability to interpret test requirements for components such as connectors, PCBAs, circuit breakers, and sensors.
• Working knowledge of electrical schematics, PCB development, and component evaluation.
