Employer Brand Manager

Overview

OpenAI is hiring a senior Employer Brand Manager (individual contributor) to shape how priority talent understands OpenAI as a frontier research lab.

What you’ll do

• Lead OpenAI’s employer brand strategy for the full range of talent needs.
• Build and scale an evidence-backed “why OpenAI / why now” talent narrative.
• Use candidate, employee, recruiter, and market insights to refine audience priorities, positioning, content, and candidate experience.
• Create and lead a scalable content and enablement system across careers, stories, outreach, and recruiting guidance.
• Ensure the external brand promise is consistent from first impression through onboarding.
• Measure brand perception, engagement, candidate understanding/experience, and recruiting impact.
• Build an AI-native operating model across multiple functions and external partners with decision rights and quality standards.

What you’ll need

• 7+ years of experience in employer branding, talent marketing, research communications, recruitment marketing, brand strategy, or a related field.
• Experience across high-growth startups and larger organizations with the ability to build programs that scale.
• High agency, strong judgment, bias toward action, and willingness to figure things out without a playbook.
• Ability to build employer brand capabilities from the ground up into durable systems and operating practices.
• Strong writing and editing skills to translate fast-moving technical work into accurate narratives.
• Use research and data to define audiences, identify perception gaps, prioritize investments, and measure recruiting impact.
• Experience influencing senior technical stakeholders and leading external agencies/creative partners.
