Overview
Field Application Engineer who serves as a technical lead for customers including consultants, end users, EPC/DBC firms, and design-build teams to support ABB MV/LV power distribution projects.
What you'll do
- Develop and specify ABB low- and medium-voltage power distribution solutions.
- Provide design support including product selection, value engineering, budgeting, and technical expertise across the project lifecycle.
- Develop and review electrical system designs such as one-line diagrams, schematics, layouts, equipment specifications, and budgetary estimates.
- Act as subject matter expert for MV/LV switchgear, switchboards, panelboards, transformers, and arc flash mitigation technologies.
- Deliver customer presentations and initiatives such as Lunch & Learns and technical thought leadership.
- Perform power system studies including short-circuit, coordination, and arc flash mitigation analyses using SKM and EasyPower.
- Use Salesforce (SFDC) to support evaluation of technical, financial, and risk considerations and communicate customer insights and market trends.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Electrical) with a minimum of 8 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 4 years of experience.
- Knowledge of industry codes and standards including ANSI, IEEE, NEC, NEMA, NFPA 70E, and UL (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal skills to resolve technical issues by considering multiple viewpoints.
- Fluent English speaking and writing.
- Ability to travel approximately 25% of the time and regularly visit customers in the local area.
- Work authorization permitting employment with ABB in the US.
- Capability to establish and nurture partnership relationships with regional engineering consulting community.
