Overview

Software Engineering Manager (Backend) leading a team of ~8–10 software engineers at Cisco Meraki/Catalyst.

What you'll do

• Lead, support, and develop a software engineering team (approximately 8–10 engineers).
• Own team outcomes from planning through production delivery.
• Set clear priorities, establish milestones, and manage dependencies.
• Ensure delivery of reliable, scalable, secure solutions.
• Stay technically engaged in architecture, system design, and software/networking challenges.
• Collaborate with Product Management and cross-functional partners to build roadmaps and execution plans.

What you'll need

• 12+ years of related software engineering experience (or 10+ years with a Master’s, or 5+ years with a PhD).
• 3+ years of hands-on people-management experience leading/mentoring/developing a team of ~8–10 engineers.
• Backend development familiarity using Ruby on Rails and Python.
• Experience with containerized, cloud-native environments using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Architecture, system design, technical trade-offs, and distributed systems experience.
• Practical experience with emulation and simulation of networking devices and solving software/networking issues.
• Experience taking projects from loosely defined business problems through delivery with milestones, metrics, and dependencies.
