Manager, Software Engineering

Overview

Software Engineering Manager for New Relic’s Developer Platform team in India, focused on building and maintaining an internal developer platform.

What you'll do

• Treat the internal developer platform as a product by defining roadmaps, managing backlogs, and prioritizing features.
• Drive operational and business efficiency including secure code, CI/CD pipelines, unit/regression testing, uptime, telemetry-informed decisions, and blameless root-cause analysis.
• Design and promote “golden paths” to standardize development, deployment, and testing via self-service environments.
• Participate in operational review meetings and bring postmortem learnings to teams and the organization.
• Coach and mentor people, including learning through collaboration with other teams.
• Collaborate with PMs, technical leaders, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and execute cross-team initiatives.
• Work in an agile, DevOps approach and participate in second-layer support rotations.

What you'll need

• 10+ years of professional work experience in software development.
• BS/MS in Computer Science, or equivalent education/experience in a relevant field.
• Hands-on coding experience in Golang, Java, Javascript, or Python.
• Hands-on experience designing software architecture for large-scale, multi-tiered distributed applications with service-oriented architecture, object-oriented design, and RESTful API endpoints.
• 6+ years of people management experience.
• 5+ years of experience with Jenkins, ArgoCD, Temporal, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
• Strong background in application/system programming, Infrastructure as Code, and Linux administration.
