Overview
Join the Hardware group as a Mechanical Hardware Designer creating designs for subassemblies and subsystems that improve cost, reliability, and next-generation product advancements. Apply digital design, CAD software, and engineering drawing interpretation to solve material and manufacturing process challenges.
What you'll do
- Interact with cross functional teams in India and the US, including Mechanical, Electrical, and Manufacturing, to obtain inputs on mechanical drawings, specifications, electrical wiring drawings, and interconnects.
- Perform cable and harness routing, polyline routing, and other flexible component routing using the NX/CREO Cable routing module.
- Support manufacturing and supply chain by documenting and releasing engineering harness drawings.
- Provide the required length to build cables, polylines, and other flexible components.
- Provide timely solutions for efficient routing and better packaging of components.
- Participate in design reviews and prepare and present design reviews.
- Provide resolution to design and documentation quality issues, including Problem Reports, QB issues, and Supplier Build issues, on routing.
- Create, release, and maintain standard procedures for 3D routing for the team.
What you'll need
- B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Design (Systems and Power Boxes: Cable Design & Routing).
- B.E./B.Tech with 6 to 10 years of relevant experience.
- Proficiency in the 3D routing module in NX/CREO.
- Well versed with interpretation of mechanical drawings, specifications, and electrical schematics.
- Working knowledge of OEM component selection, including connectors and back shells.
- Working knowledge of design standards and BoM (Bill of Material) management.
- Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Nice to have
- Prior experience in the semiconductor equipment industry.
- Experience with documentation standards and Engineering Change Management processes.
- Familiarity with Bills of Material (BOM) structure and configuration.
- Knowledge of PDM and PLM systems such as Teamcenter and SAP PLM.
- Teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Presentation skills.

- Location: Bangalore, India.
- Lam offers work location models based on the needs of each role.
- On-site Flex roles require working 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week.
- Virtual Flex roles require working 1–2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.
