Network Engineer, GIOC

Overview

Monitor and triage network incidents for Vultr's global network operations from the Chennai GIOC. Execute approved Tier 1 runbooks, resolve common connectivity issues, and escalate incidents beyond L1 scope.

What you'll do

• Monitor routing, DNS, CDN, link, latency, and packet-loss signals.
• Acknowledge alerts and incidents within first-response SLAs.
• Classify incidents by severity, customer impact, and owning tower.
• Execute documented Tier 1 runbooks for connectivity and routing issues.
• Document actions, evidence, ticket updates, and incident timelines.
• Escalate out-of-scope issues with complete handoffs.
• Contribute to runbook improvements, automation, and post-incident reviews.

What you'll need

• 3–5 years of experience in network operations, NOC, or IT operations.
• B.E., B.Tech, or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, firewalls, load balancing, and CDN concepts.
• Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as ping, traceroute, and packet capture.
• Understanding of incident management and severity-based triage.
• Strong written and verbal English communication.
• Ability to work rotational 24x7 shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Nice to have

• ITIL V4 Foundation or equivalent ITSM knowledge.
• CCNA, JNCIA, or equivalent networking certification.
• Scripting familiarity with Bash, Python, or PowerShell.
• Cloud networking, GPU infrastructure, physical-layer, telecom, or 24x7 command-center experience.
