Overview
Eaton is hiring a PCB Library (ECAD) Engineer in Pune, India. The role creates, maintains, and governs PCB libraries to ensure design accuracy, quality, consistency, and manufacturing readiness across projects.
What you'll do
- Ensure strict compliance with IPC standards, including IPC-7351 and IPC Class 3, and internal design guidelines.
- Adhere to defined library creation checklists, QC processes, and approval workflows with no process deviations.
- Interpret component datasheets, package dimensions, pinouts, land patterns, and assembly constraints.
- Translate assembly and footprint requirements into compliant PCB library elements.
- Perform thorough quality checks and validation before library release.
- Act as a gatekeeper to ensure only validated, compliant parts enter design workflows.
- Prevent defective, non-compliant, or incorrect components from entering PCB designs.
- Ensure component data accuracy and completeness, including package and land pattern, pin mapping and orientation, lifecycle status, and alternates.
- Maintain traceability and controlled updates within library databases.
- Support PCB designers and stakeholders with library queries, updates, and issue resolution.
- Collaborate with PCB, Manufacturing, SCM, and Quality teams to ensure library readiness and alignment.
What you'll need
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, Electronics and Communication, or Electrical Engineering.
- 5 to 7 years of total relevant work experience.
- Sound knowledge of electrical and electronic components, including Surface Mount, through Hole, and custom parts.
- Hands-on experience in library database management and Parts, Symbols, and footprints creation.
- Ability to interpret component datasheets, package drawings, and JEDEC specifications.
- Sound knowledge of IPC standards including IPC2221A, IPC7351, IPC-6012, IPC-A-610, IPC-SM-782, UL, and MIL.
- Awareness of DFA guidelines, CIS / CIP database, DBLIB, MDB, SVN, ENOVIA, PLM tools, or equivalent library management and version control tools.
- Strong hands-on experience with Altium Designer, including library creation and database libraries.
- Strong understanding of electronic component assembly processes and guidelines, including SMT, THT, and special packages.
Nice to have
- PCB design and schematic drafting experience.
- Experience with PCB manufacturing processes, including Design for Manufacturing, assembly, and testing.
- Experience validating Gerbers using CAM350.
- Good knowledge of PCB design guidelines for EMI / EMC aspects.
- Some exposure to hardware testing.
- Domain knowledge of High power and High Speed Layout designs.
