Physical Design Engineer (Senior/Lead) – Modem Team

Overview

Senior/Lead Physical Design Engineer for Qualcomm’s Modem team, working on advanced Modem SoC physical design. Own end-to-end PnR from netlist to GDSII, including block implementation through timing closure and signoff.

What you'll do

• Drive the end-to-end physical design flow (floorplanning, placement, CTS, routing, timing closure, signoff).
• Perform block-level implementation and optimization to meet PPA targets.
• Coordinate with STA, RTL, DFT, and CAD teams to achieve design closure.
• Debug and resolve physical implementation issues using Synopsys Fusion Compiler.
• Develop automation and flow improvements using Tcl/Shell scripting.

What you'll need

• At least 6+ years of hardware engineering experience (or 5+ years with a master’s, or 4+ years with a PhD).
• Strong expertise across the complete PnR flow from netlist to GDSII.
• Hands-on skills in floorplanning, placement, CTS, routing, timing closure, and signoff.
• Expertise in Synopsys Fusion Compiler (FC)/Innovus and implementation flows.
• Proficiency in Tcl and Shell scripting.
• Working knowledge of STA, MMMC, IR/EM, DRC/LVS, and physical verification.
