Reservoir Engineer

Overview

Reservoir Engineer focused on converting reservoir simulation models from Halliburton Nexus to Eclipse and then supporting next-generation subsurface simulation workflows.

What you'll do

• Perform reservoir simulation model conversions from Halliburton Nexus format to Eclipse format for at least the first 12 months.
• Run QC and troubleshoot the conversion process with regional teams.
• Ensure converted models capture relevant physical processes, development scheme, and operating philosophy for each field.
• Minimise and understand differences in predicted recovery between models.
• Use Python, machine learning, HPC, AI, and analytics to support subsurface workflow transformation after the conversion project.
• Develop and deploy technology solutions including workflow automation and next-generation simulation techniques.
• Convert models using industry tools and bp’s ResSimpy Python package, and quantify differences in response.

What you'll need

• BSc/MSc (or equivalent) degree in Petroleum/Reservoir Engineering, related applied science/engineering, or mathematics.
• 3+ years experience as a Reservoir Engineer with reservoir simulation experience.
• Experience with reservoir simulation tools such as Eclipse, Nexus, and Intersect.
• Coding experience with Python.
• Track record in model building, QA/QC, history matching, and model analysis.
• Working understanding of reservoir analysis fundamentals including pressure transient analysis, decline curve analysis, and material balance.
• Communication and influencing skills with a track record of sharing learnings.
