Safety Engineer - Free Tier Abuse

Overview

Safety Engineer for automated moderation and guardrail systems to protect ElevenLabs’ platform and users, with a focus on preventing abuse of free tiers.

What you'll do

• Design and build backend infrastructure for abuse detection and production deployment of AI/ML models.
• Architect APIs, data pipelines, and service architectures for real-time and batch moderation.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability; establish SLIs, SLOs, and performance benchmarks.
• Partner with ML engineers to translate research models into production-ready systems and integrate them across the product.
• Drive technical decisions and contribute to the safety roadmap for scalable guardrails.

What you'll need

• Direct experience tackling free-tier abuse, fraud detection, or fake-account/bot farming at scale.
• 6+ years of backend software engineering experience building production systems at scale.
• Strong backend experience including distributed systems, APIs, data pipelines, and Python expertise.
• Infrastructure and DevOps proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), Docker/K8s, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Observability experience using monitoring tools like Prometheus and Grafana.
• Track record of taking products/systems from 0→1 with measurable impact, including ML/AI in production.

Nice to have

• Trust & Safety, Content Moderation, or Integrity engineering experience.
• MLOps experience deploying, monitoring, and versioning ML models.
• Experience with SQL, data analysis tools, real-time streaming (Kafka, Redis), or event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with React or modern frontend frameworks.

• Alternatively can work from offices in London, New York, San Francisco, and Warsaw.
