Scrum Master

Overview

Lead cross-functional teams in delivering agile-based project outcomes by facilitating Scrum processes, removing impediments, and acting as the intermediary between product owners, managers and team members.

What you'll do

• Lead cross-functional teams to provide agile-based project deliverables and facilitate the team's work to accelerate delivery of business value by ensuring adherence to Scrum methodologies and processes.
• Facilitate internal and external communication, remove impediments, and serve as the intermediary between multiple product owners, managers, and team members.
• Facilitate the project team through Release Planning, Sprint Planning for multiple product owners, Daily Scrums, Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives in a fast paced environment with competing priorities.
• Set the example for Agile methods based upon the designated principles and ensure they are understood and exercised consistently within the team.
• Effectively inform and negotiate with senior management on issues related to the Scrum process.
• Assess patterns of impediments and process challenges and engage the team through Retrospectives for improvements.
• Guide and develop clear Sprint standards while keeping the team engaged and on task.
• Hold the team accountable to Scrum values and practices.
• Apply advanced analysis and problem resolution skills to identify root cause of complex sources of impediments.
• Create a team environment by establishing trust and transparency through collaboration and communication while preserving the Agile culture and restoring confidence.
• Drive a collaborative team environment that fosters creativity and innovation.
• Engage the team to make sure stories and other project deliverables to the platform team are of sufficient quality and provided in a timely manner.
• Support team building and team development by utilizing the abilities and skills of individuals, and fostering a feedback culture.
• Initiate, build and maintain positive relationships with IT and internal customers to ensure effective completion of project work.
• Drive process measurement automation through tools.
• Create visibility of progress, roadblocks, risks and process adherence through dashboards/tools to engage the team and stakeholders for everyday action.
• Display broad business and technical knowledge while partnering with development leads for capacity planning and resource allocation in all Agile tools.
• Guard and shield the team(s) from distractions and interruptions from external interferences.
• Promote continuous team improvement, measure the team, and help the team and individuals measure themselves to be more productive and to produce higher quality products.
• Ensure quality and completeness of the product through unit, integration, and regression capabilities.
• Educate the team, project office and management on Agile software principles and practices.
• Use expert analysis and problem resolution skills to identify complex and infrequent sources of impediments.
• Inspire creative solutions that identify the true source of impediments and remove impediments impacting the team.

• Expert negotiation and conflict management skills to resolve unusual and complex issues within and external to the team.
• Ability to network with key contacts outside own area of expertise.
