Senior Backend Engineer

Overview

Senior Backend Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and evolving backend product capabilities and solving high-scope backend problems.

What you'll do

• Design and ship moderate to complex backend features with minimal guidance.
• Shape backend standards for style, maintainability, testing, APIs, and operational readiness.
• Advocate for product quality, security, availability, and performance.
• Mentor associate and intermediate engineers and remove technical blockers via code/design reviews.
• Diagnose and prevent performance and reliability issues at scale, including incident response ownership where appropriate.
• Use AI in production engineering work, including evaluating effectiveness and coaching others on responsible use.

What you'll need

• Strong command of backend architecture, APIs, data systems, and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in modern backend languages and deep understanding of systems programming.
• Experience designing or evolving modular backend boundaries and migration-safe architectures.
• Ability to lead through influence and clear written communication bridging product needs and technical reality.
• Proven experience building or operating agentic systems in production with reliability-focused error-handling strategies.
