Senior Backend Engineer

Overview

Senior Backend Engineer working with clients and delivery teams to design, build, operate, and improve enterprise software systems using modern agile practices.

What you'll do

• Determine system requirements and delivery approaches with clients and teams.
• Deliver software using pair programming, TDD, CI/CD, and other agile practices.
• Automate system infrastructure and deployments.
• Support the production systems you build.
• Advocate agile practices within client organisations.
• Mentor client team members.
• Improve team and client delivery capabilities.

What you'll need

• Proven senior-level experience as a backend engineer.
• Extensive experience developing, maintaining, and operating enterprise-scale distributed systems.
• Expert knowledge of a programming language and its associated tooling.
• Hands-on experience with test-driven development and automated testing.
• Strong understanding of agile development principles and approaches.
• Strong communication skills for working with globally distributed teams.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach.

Nice to have

• Experience developing distributed systems with microservice architectures and RESTful services.
• Experience running large-scale production systems in containerised or cloud environments.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure.
