Senior Software Engineer - Core Commerce Platform

Overview

Senior Software Engineer for PUMA’s Core Commerce Platform, building backend services that power inventory availability, order promising, fulfillment, and post-purchase experiences across channels.

What you'll do

• Design and operate secure, observable, resilient Java/Spring Boot services and low-latency APIs for inventory and order promising.
• Implement concurrency-control and consistency patterns to prevent overselling when competing orders target limited inventory.
• Build event-driven inventory processing using Kafka (or similar) for near real-time receipts, adjustments, reservations, releases, cancellations, and fulfillment updates.
• Integrate inventory and promising services with OMS, commerce, WMS, ERP, store, and fulfillment platforms across the order lifecycle.
• Independently own complex services/components from technical design through production.
• Support production with monitoring, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis; optimize performance, scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency.

What you'll need

• 7+ years of software engineering experience building and operating scalable, high-availability, consumer-facing platforms.
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, engineering, or related field.
• Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, and modern microservices architectures for production-grade services.
• Kafka (or similar) experience for event-driven architectures and enterprise-scale integrations.
• Deep understanding of caching strategies and hands-on Redis (or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of concurrency, consistency, and transactional integrity patterns to prevent overselling.
