Senior Software Engineer I, Insurance Services

Overview

Senior Software Engineer I on the Insurance Services Engineering team, working on backend services and property attribute extraction using techniques like regular expressions and large language models.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to develop property attribute extraction.
• Contribute to development and maintenance of backend services with clean, well-tested code.
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions, seeking feedback.
• Take on well-defined tasks, complete them within a reasonable time, and communicate progress.
• Learn primary services/tools used by the team and navigate microservices architecture and cloud infrastructure.
• Follow established patterns and frameworks while developing engineering judgment.

What you'll need

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• SQL proficiency, preferably PostgreSQL.
• Production JVM language experience, preferably Scala.
• Familiarity with data science concepts such as data labeling or information extraction.
• Exposure to property inspections, real estate assessments, or home condition reporting terminology.
• Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, AWS/GCP, or CI/CD pipelines.
• Must currently reside in or be located within 150 km of Greater Delhi NCR, Greater Bangalore, or Greater Pune.

Details

• Location: India (Remote) with work hours including 4 core US hours overlap (7:30pm–11:30pm IST) and 4 flexible hours (IST).
• Workspace requirements include a quiet space and internet connection of at least 30 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.
