Senior Software Engineer (Kotlin, Java, Azure/ AWS)

Overview

Senior Backend Engineer to develop and maintain robust Kotlin/Ktor microservices for a multi-regional commerce platform and payments ecosystem.

What you'll do

• Develop and maintain scalable backend services primarily using Kotlin and Ktor.
• Participate in architectural discussions and help design multi-regional backend components.
• Maintain and manage SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Integrate backend services with search clusters like OpenSearch.
• Work on payments and product platform with fault-tolerance requirements.
• Manage deployments using tools such as GitHub, Gradle, and CircleCI.
• Monitor services in clusters using tools like Sentry and Datadog and mentor junior engineers.

What you'll need

• 7+ years of professional backend engineering experience.
• 3+ years of Kotlin development with modern asynchronous backend framework experience.
• Experience with Kafka or a similar event streaming platform.
• Fluency in Git, CI/CD, and build automation.
• Knowledge of deploying, ingress, monitoring, and managing backend services in Kubernetes.
• Strong communication skills for explaining technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ktor in a large-scale production environment.
• Hands-on experience and understanding of payment platforms.
• Familiarity with AWS and infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or Terragrunt.
