Senior Technical Product Manager - Modernization

Overview

Own the quarterly plan, backlog and delivery for a major product area of Appian's enterprise AI process automation platform, bridging engineering, design and go-to-market teams.

What you'll do

• Own the quarterly plan, prioritize the feature backlog, and lead the delivery for a major product area.
• Prioritize the sprint and release backlog by balancing technical debt, platform scalability, and business impact to maximize customer value.
• Write detailed specifications for the team and fellow product managers to review and provide feedback on.
• Track adoption and usage of new features, applying appropriate metrics and analytics to evaluate whether they are having the desired impact.
• Own features all the way through final documentation, go-to-market, prioritization of bugs, and usage analysis.
• Mentor junior product managers and interview product manager candidates.

What you'll need

• Bachelor of Engineering / Bachelor of Technology (B.E / B.Tech) or BA/BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3–5 years of progressive experience in Product Management, ideally within a technical or platform-oriented domain.
• A strong technical background; you must be able to hold your own in a deep-dive architectural discussion with senior engineers.
• Strong ability to perform comparative analysis between different technical solutions and communicate the "why" behind a chosen path.
• Proven ability to prioritize, negotiate, and execute in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to synthesize complex technical updates into actionable insights for the broader organization.
• Use data and logic to reach a resolution that serves the product, not just the consensus, when facing technical disagreements.
• Take personal ownership of your subsystem's performance and adoption metrics.

Nice to have

• Prior experience designing APIs, enterprise system integrations, or process automation components.
• Experience with enterprise platforms such as Salesforce or ServiceNow.
• Prior experience designing systems that use agentic AI to accelerate user productivity.

Details

• Based at Appian's Chennai office in DLF Downtown Chennai.
• Expected to be in the office 5 days a week.
