Overview
Sr. Developer Relations Manager to build and coordinate Backblaze's developer presence, making B2 the default storage layer for developers and AI agents. Starts as an individual contributor with influence over docs, engineering, content and solutions engineering teams.
What you'll do
- Define what "agent-ready" means for Backblaze and drive execution against it across engineering, docs and content.
- Coordinate the AI integrations engineering team, docs team, content org and SE team around a unified developer strategy.
- Build credibility in developer communities such as GitHub, Discord, open source projects, developer events and AI infrastructure tooling.
- Elevate internal technical voices and partner with ecosystem players.
- Maintain a feedback loop from the developer community to product and engineering, surfacing adoption friction and unmet integration needs.
- Use the Flamethrower Startup Program to gain early signal from AI builders.
- Define and own program success metrics, including developer signups, activation rates, B2 adoption in AI frameworks, community engagement and content reach.
What you'll need
- Meaningful DevRel, developer marketing, or developer experience leadership at a cloud infrastructure, open source, or AI tooling company.
- Have built or significantly grown a developer program, not just contributed to one.
- Understanding of how agentic workflows are reshaping how developers discover and integrate infrastructure tools.
- Technically credible: can read a codebase, evaluate an SDK, write a working integration, and discuss tradeoffs with an engineer. Need not be a full-time SWE, but have been one or close to it.
- Experience working or starting without a large team, amplifying impact through cross-functional relationships, partners and community.
- Strong communicator to developers externally and leadership internally, able to write a technical tutorial and an exec summary.
- Existing presence in developer communities, such as a following, conference talks, open source contributions or a technical blog.
Nice to have
- Direct experience with model training, data processing or generative media.
- Familiarity with how coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, etc.) surface and recommend infrastructure tools.
- Experience working with or building on open source AI/ML frameworks (MLflow, DVC, Ray Data, WebDataset, MosaicML Streaming).
- Prior experience running or contributing to a startup or developer program (accelerator, cohort model, or similar).
