Overview
Senior planning architect to lead the design and evolution of Alteryx's connected planning environment, owning Anaplan architecture, technical roadmap, model standards, and major planning solutions across FP&A.
What you'll do
- Own connected planning and Anaplan architecture across the FP&A footprint, including model design, roadmap, scalability, performance, security, and major build decisions.
- Translate planning requirements and spreadsheet- or workflow-based processes into scalable planning solutions, and determine when a use case belongs in Anaplan versus a data, automation, or reporting layer.
- Own Anaplan Data Hub architecture, application lifecycle management strategy, workspace and model design, release discipline, testing standards, and controlled production change.
- Establish reusable model-building standards, design patterns, documentation, runbooks, and backup coverage that improve maintainability and reduce key-person dependency.
- Lead major Anaplan builds and complex planning initiatives from solution design through implementation, validation, adoption, and ongoing support readiness.
- Partner with Finance Analytics Engineering & Automation on integrations between Anaplan, Snowflake, workflow automation, and downstream reporting, with clear ownership and control points across systems.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex Anaplan and connected-planning architecture questions, providing recommendations, tradeoffs, and downstream impact analysis.
- Coach and mentor Anaplan builders across the broader Finance team, using project-based support where appropriate while maintaining architecture standards and accountability.
- Partner with FP&A leaders and business stakeholders to evolve the connected planning roadmap across forecasting, annual planning, scenario analysis, workforce planning, revenue and bookings, and other priority use cases.
- Stay current on Anaplan capabilities and adjacent planning technologies, recommending improvements to scalability, user experience, automation, governance, and maintainability.
What you'll need
- 6+ years of Anaplan experience, including demonstrated ownership of enterprise or multi-model architecture, technical roadmap, and major solution design.
- Deep proficiency in Anaplan Data Hub design, dimensional architecture, model performance, integration patterns, and implementation best practices.
- Strong command of Anaplan application lifecycle management, release management, testing, workspace and model strategy, and controlled production change.
- Proven ability to design, build, and troubleshoot complex Anaplan models, formulas, integrations, and performance-sensitive solutions.
- Strong understanding of FP&A and planning processes, including forecasting, annual planning, headcount, expense, revenue or bookings, scenario planning, and reconciliation to actuals.
- Experience designing planning user experiences and workflows that balance model architecture, usability, adoption, and planning-cycle reliability.
- Working knowledge of cloud data platforms, SQL, workflow automation, APIs, or comparable integration technologies sufficient to design clean system boundaries and integration contracts.
- Prior technical leadership, mentoring, or people management experience, with the ability to lead complex work even when contributors report through other teams.
Nice to have
- Anaplan Solutions Architect, Master Anaplanner, or comparable advanced Anaplan certification.
- Experience integrating Anaplan with Snowflake, Alteryx, APIs, or other modern Finance data and automation platforms.
- Experience supporting connected-planning use cases across GTM, revenue, workforce, capacity, territory, quota, or other cross-functional planning domains.
- Experience with data governance, planning controls, reconciliation, metadata, or enterprise model standards.
- Experience operating in a SaaS or subscription business with complex forecasting and planning requirements.
