Staff Software Engineer (Customer Platform)

Overview

Staff Software Engineer for Chainguard’s Customer Platform team, owning backend and integration features that connect customers to the software supply chain.

What you'll do

• Own features end-to-end from design and implementation through rollout and iteration.
• Design, build, and evolve backend systems in Go with REST/gRPC APIs for entitlement, policy, and customer onboarding.
• Act as the primary technical interface between Customer Platform and other engineering teams by building integration paths.
• Extend an agentic AI foundation into customer-facing product experiences.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to senior and mid-level engineers.
• Contribute to a product-driven roadmap with clear deadlines and iterative shipping.

What you'll need

• Production Go experience.
• Strong ownership of API design and backend systems at scale, shipped and operated in production.
• Experience aligning with multiple teams on technical standards, integration patterns, and shared infrastructure.
• Ability to operate in ambiguity with a diagnosis, recommendation, and path forward.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and provide technical guidance without a management title.
• Familiarity with cloud-native environments (Kubernetes and cloud provider APIs).

Details

• Remote role: United States, UK, or Canada.
• Base salary range: $205,000 to $231,000 USD.
