Staff SW Engineer (10-12 years' exp - .NET Core / Backend Engineer with AI-First Development Approach)

Overview

Staff Software Engineer to build and maintain distributed, AI-augmented enterprise software platforms as part of Visa’s VERA – Learning Enablement Technology team.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain distributed enterprise software platforms across .NET (C#), Python, Java, Go, and C++ runtimes.
• Translate business and product requirements into scalable system designs and discuss architectural trade-offs.
• Lead architectural design reviews, code reviews, and enforce code-quality standards.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues, drive root-cause analysis, and improve system reliability.
• Contribute to automation, developer tooling, and Generative AI adoption.
• Mentor and technically guide junior and mid-level engineers.

What you'll need

• 10+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or 8+ years with a Master’s degree.
• Expert-level C#/.NET Core and .NET Framework experience delivering enterprise SaaS/hosted apps in production.
• Experience with Generative AI and conversational AI, including RAG architectures and enterprise integration.
• Experience building AI agent-based applications using the Microsoft Agent Framework.
• Skills with Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers for secure connectivity to enterprise systems and APIs.
• Hands-on Azure experience across IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, plus cloud analytics using Snowflake.
